Outreach
and Educational Theater:
Our members' collective
body of knowledge about Ancient Rome is extensive and varied - and
we love to share it! We would be thrilled to "step out of the
past" and offer one of the following presentations to your class
or group (schedule permitting - more of us are available on weekends.)
1. Civilian Life
in Rome
Life as a citizen in 1st century Rome varied depending upon who you
were. Our interests in the lives of Ancient Roman civilians are as
varied as the members of our group. Possible topics for this presentations
include, but are not limited to: Childhood in Rome, Cuisine, Fashion
and Cosmetics, Games, Metalsmithing, Pottery, Roman Religion, Slaves
and Slavery, Theater, Music, Dance, Weaving, Woodworking, Women and
Home Life, or another topic that interests you.
2. The Life of the
Soldier and the Politician
Life as a soldier in 1st century Rome was hard and adventurous. The
Roman legions are celebrated, and after the fall of Rome, it was a
thousand years before the western world would see an army its equal.
What was life really like for soldiers in the provinces or the politicians
who governed Rome? What went through Gaius Julius Caesar's mind just
before crossing the Rubicon? Let our soldiers, officers, and auxilliaries
tell you.
3. Friends or Foes?
Who were the "enemies of Rome?" What was life like for those
communities that did not want to be conquered? How did Romans and
"barbarians" see each other?
4. A custom presentation,
based on your specific needs and interests. Does your event need gladiatorial
games? Do you want Roman soldiers to welcome your guests? Please contact
us!
